We are developing a preschool in Quelimane so that we could provide literacy skills to children. Our greatest passion is to provide a quality education for the most vulnerable children in need that surround the base neighborhood. Access of education still a privilege for most of the children with a preschool not being accessible to the poor. Many parents have to take their kids to the fields when they go to farm as their is no one to care for them and the cost is to high. We have loved seeing parents released to work and to have the privileged of investing in these young lives and this important formative stage.
Mal-nourishment in Mozambique means that many adults are stunted in their height, kids often don’t have even one good meal a day. So the feeding program at the preschool at least means that we know they are eating decent food at lunch each day when they are with us. This has also been a big journey of faith for us as we not only have to believe God for our own food as YWAM staff but also for the precious children’s provision.
Our Joy is to see these toddlers growing up gaining weight learning to count and read and also growing in God as they learn about Jesus his life, His Love and that He wants to be their friend forever.
