Providing clean water to poor communities
Sustainable Community development is vital for the uplifting and development of Africa. We believe this has to start with grass roots development using appropriate technologies that can affordable be multiplied across Africa. The first tecknology that we have been using and training teams in is Hand Auga Well Drilling Tecknology that can drill a well up to 21 meters.
The beauty of this technology is that it is so affordable and the main costs are the pump and casing pipe. Here in Mozambique labor is readily available at a low cost and villagers desperate for water will even offer their help for free so they can access clean water. A well will cost in the range of $1000-1500 to drill develop case and commission. This is a fraction of the cost of a standard mechanically drilled well and also the equipment can be carried by hand into very hard to reach areas.
Water is life and the lack of clean drinking water is the cause of many preventable diseases that kill people in rural areas especially children. A team as small as 4 people with the right training equipment can install a pump that will change the lives of a community in as little as 1 week if we don’t hit rocks and have to pound our way through. Are you interested in learning, funding a well or bringing a team to join us providing clean water?
